Take A Seat
Dutch designer Jelte van Geest created a rather special pouf for a library design project and called it “Take A Seat”. It’s a robotic chair that actually follows you around. The library cards have an embedded RFID chip, which the chairs use to find and follow their target. The designer says:
Robots are often seen as mean machines. However, they do have a more friendly side, which should have a more prominent place in our society.
You can see these chairs in action in the public library in Eindhoven. Read more

GE’s Ecomagination website offers a pretty neat “Augmented Reality” advertisement gimmick in which what’s shown on your computer screen responds to how you’re holding a piece of paper in front of your webcam. Go ahead, print your own and enjoy your personal augmented reality experience as well! Note that you need a printer and webcam for this to work.

Every Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. (CET) Studio Brussel airs the radio show Mish Mash, presented by Gunter Desamblanx (hence the trash talk). From behind the turntables Gerrit Kerremans brings us two hours of great techno, dance and electro mashups, delightfully blended into and easily digestible and refreshing mix of pure exhilaration (Gunther: “JA’ah!”). This is no mere chart song chaining!
For your enjoyment, there’s a playlist online, often along with parts of the show available for download (MP3). By now, you’re probably very curious what this all sounds like, right? To satisfy your hunger, check out the mix of Les Petits Pilous (44,3 MB), the megamix of Switch 12 (20,6 MB) or the minimix of Switch 13 (20,6 MB) by Jin Sonic. You’ll be coming back for more! The radio station can also be listened to live from the Studio Brussel website (“Luister Live” on top).
If you’re a Facebook junkie and you like the radio show, you might consider joining the Mish Mash Appreciation Society.
