We recently saw The Hangover. This is a comedy movie about four guys going to Las Vegas to have a bachelor party, waking up the next morning and having no idea what happened. The only clues available are a missing tooth, a tiger in the bathroom, a baby in the closet, etc. Oh, and one hell of a hangover…
It was one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a while. Enjoy the trailer below, then go and watch it in theater yourself: Read more

Just a few days a go Tom and me watched Burn After Reading (2008) by the Coen Brothers in theater. It was a hilarious movie and one of my favourite parts was the one you can watch below. In this short clip J.K. Simmons (as a CIA superior) says to David Rasche (as a CIA officer): “Report back to me when, uh… I don’t know. When it makes sense.” Source: official international teaser. The Number 23
I recently watched The Number 23:
a psychological thriller starring Jim Carrey as a man whose life unravels after he comes into contact with an obscure book titled The Number 23. As he reads the book, he becomes increasingly convinced that it is based on his own life. His obsession with the number 23 starts to consume him, and he begins to realize the book forecasts far graver consequences for his life than he could have ever imagined..
I found it to be a quite satisfying movie. The most bizarre thing however happened right after, when I quickly went out to buy some items before shops close and the cashier informed me of the sum I had to pay. Check out the picture of my shopping bill to the left. No, I didn’t freak out and ran out of the shop or anything, but still, strange isn’t it? I thought it was rather coincidental. Hope the number doesn’t start haunting me now.
For those who are interested, here’s the official website and the trailer of the movie:
Chocolate Ice Cream Joke
A woman enters an ice cream parlour and walks up to the counter. She says to the clerk: “I’ll have a scoop of chocolate please.” The clerk responds: “I’m sorry ma’am, we’re all out of chocolate.” The woman replies: “Oh, okay. In that case I’ll have the chocolate.” The clerk decides she must’ve misheard him and repeats more clearly: “We’re all out of chocolate ice cream for today, miss.” The woman cries: “Oh, okay. Sorry about that. I guess I’ll just get some chocolate then.” The clerk, frustrated, says: “Look lady. Spell van, as in vanilla.” The woman says: “Okay… V-A-N.” The clerk says: “Good, now spell straw, as in strawberry.” The woman confidently replies: “Okay, S-T-R-A-W.” “Excellent!”, cries the clerk, “Now spell f**k as in chocolate.” The woman, puzzled, replies: “But there is no f**k in chocolate.” The clerk cries: “THAT’S WHAT I’VE BEEN TRYING TO TELL YOU!”

Spider-Pig. Spider-Pig. Does whatever a Spider-Pig does. Can he swing. From a web. No he can’t. He’s a pig. Look out! He is a Spider-Pig!
Here’s a clip from the movie.

Yesterday we went to the Grindel Ufa Palast in Hamburg, where they feature original English movies. Tuesday is ‘movie day’ there, and for a mere 4,50 €/person we booked ourselves (online and without any extra costs) some great seats for the long awaited movie Shrek the Third.
Even though the story of the movie was not so special, the jokes and all the action scenes caught us in our seats from the first second on. We stayed trapped until the end of the credits, hoping for some hilarious bloopers.. but unfortunately, there were none. Anyway, the movie is highly recommendable and we are already looking forward to the next sequel, which will probably be in theaters in 2010.
Update (September, 4th): Grindel Ufa Palast closed down in Hamburg. I suppose not enough people are interested in original movies that aren’t dubbed here. It’s a terrible shame!
